you may have seen it: Daniel Powter's "Bad Day" music video. well, i'm not having a bad day. but this morning, i did feel like the girl who was lucky to star opposite of the cute guy. naturally, i high-heeled my way into the kitchen to get a cup of coffee. i reached for the yellow cup i have made a habit out of using, only to find that the dishwasher missed a lipstick stain and i passed it up for a Antropologie-looking pink one. i like to pause for a moment after pouring and rest the cup in the palm of my hand. this summer's high temps make everyone in the office think they are products of the Ice Age, so the warmth of the cup feels nice and comforts any early uneasiness i may have experienced and i say a small prayer for my strength granted for defending myself from the pulpy morning distractions. anyway, as i pivoted south to look out towards the Hyatt building, like most mornings, a green flick of movement caught my eye. the next thing i know, i'm exchanging smiles with a stranger via our building's windows and wondering how long he had been watching me. he was already smiling and i couldn't stop myself. seated at a table, in front of a laptop, he put his hand ontop of the screen and moved it down towards him at a forty-five degree angle. i didn't know what that meant, so i started walking back towards the door and when i turned to look back once more, he tilted his head and nodded, so i smiled again.

the funniset thing about it yet, he looked a lot like Powter.
