i had trouble sleeping last night, but i guess it's not like having trouble falling asleep on Monday nights when i know i have to be up at 6:35am. before getting under my covers i wrapped myself in a fleece blanket. i struggled to pull the rest of my covers up to my chest because my arms were restricted by the fleece and in the process, i ended up smearing nearly-dry lotion from my arms on my face which i had just applied a tanner to. i couldn't help but think that one of the worst scenarios has got to be when you're uncomfortable in your own bed - the only real, consistent comfort. you're alone, laying, and if you're me, you are surrounded by lavender-smelling softness -- it feels, and smells, like god's grace. i fell asleep soon after finally situating but i couldn't help but feel lucky that i wasn't homeless last night. our majority house vote was in favor of leaving the heat off. the $64/person/month sort of breaks the bank. before going to bed i caught a glimpse of the thermostat which read 51 degrees. outside, it was hovering around 15. i think i fell asleep feeling lucky and that's something hard to admit, especially for me.
